We are seeking a Process Engineering Executive with a solid background as a Process Engineer with a focus on leading and developing people.

The successful candidate will have demonstrated technical proficiency and a track record of successful people management and team building. The Deputy Director, Technology will be responsible for the following areas:

-Working with and supporting the Director of Technology to develop the competencies of the process group
-Leading the team in the Directors' absence
-Developing and maintaining Process standards, workflows, budgets and schedules that match the project requirements
-Developing and managing the project Process group to meet budgets and schedules
-Ensuring that the Process deliverables meet internal and client standards and are available to other disciplines in a timely manner
-Making decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities
-Initiating and maintaining extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies
-Processing performance specifications for all process equipment
-Ensuring commitment of the project to safety in design, operability and safety of plants within their scope of supervision
-Monitoring the scope, quality, sequence, interface and limits of responsibility between various engineering disciplines and project support groups
-Identifying opportunities for improvement in processes and training while maintaining quality
-Managing Lead Process Engineers in a direct reporting relationship
-Providing support for inter-discipline reviews
-Providing effective guidance, coaching, technical expertise and training as-needed

The successful candidate must possess the following skills and qualifications:
-10+ years experience in a similar role with an EPC company.
-Minimum 2-3 in a Managerial role.
-In-depth knowledge of appropriate technologies in bitumen extraction, oil & gas or mineral processing.
-Proficiency in engineering methods, standards, codes, regulations, procedures and practices.
-Creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems.
-Proven effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities.
-Demonstrated superior understanding of verbal and written communication skills.
-Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Visio, Project Excel etc)

Skills and qualifications seen as assets include:
-Strong Hysys and Pro/II or other process engineering software skills
-Ability to develop standards and guides for diverse Process Engineering activities.
-Experience in starting up or operating plants is viewed as favorable.
